Out in the garden

Some of the first flowers to
pop up in the Spring.

This is off topic since I usually write about historical sites or stories of interest, but since I’ve spent so much time in my gardens this year, I thought I’d share the fruits of my labor through photos.

In addition to flowers, I’ve planted 2 new blueberry bushes (berries are already turning blue), and added a new cherry tree to my small orchard.

In the garden I have asparagus, strawberries, tomatoes, lettuce, spinach, broccoli, brussels sprouts, string beans, lima beans, garlic, peppers and sweet potatoes. (Wow, didn’t know I had that much until I started typing)!

Also just ate my first fresh raspberries yesterday. They grow everywhere here and are great for a snack in the middle of the afternoon. (And for pies, which my father makes after I pick).

A garden takes a lot of work, but I absolutely love it. I can’t stand being inside when the sun is shining — especially on a day like today when the humidity is low.

Anyway, without further ado, here is a small sampling of some of the other flowers I’ve grown.

Azaleas and Daffodils.

Clematis that grows in the shade!
Lilies.
Roses.
Tulips and Daffodils.
Phlox flowing over rocks.
