Welcome to all my new readers—and a warm hello to those who’ve been with me for a while. I’m really glad you’re here.
No matter how you found your way here, I’ve got something a little different to share this week.
Here’s something I’ve never talked about before: every time I’m working on a novel, I end up hunting for a tangible piece of the story. I’ll wander through flea markets, thrift shops, and antique stores until I find an object that somehow captures the spirit of the book.
- When I was writing Sleigh Bells Ring, I came across an authentic set of sleigh bells once used on a harness.
- For The Lion of the South, it was a ring reminiscent of The Scarlet Pimpernel.
- And for The Monarch Alliance, I found a monarch brooch.
That brooch stayed with me through countless writing sessions. It helped anchor me in the story and kept me focused on where it was headed. It even ended up influencing a small—but meaningful—detail in the book.
(I don’t want to give anything away if you haven’t read the book, but it’s significant to the book’s plot).
I also found a pair of Monarch earrings on one of my travels… and a beautifully engraved pocket watch locket.
The best part of this story? I’m giving away this collection to one lucky reader!
Unfortunately, I haven’t gotten close to as many reviews as I was hoping for by now (it’s the only way to make the retailers take notice), so I thought I’d reward those who spread the word about The Monarch Alliance with something special.
If you’d like to take part, just click the button, and choose any (or all) of the entry points. I think the program I used makes it pretty easy, but let me know if you have any problems! 👇👇👇
